Kurtuluş BAŞTİMAR
Kurtuluş BAŞTİMAR is the founder of the INDEPENDENT BOOKS. Kurtuluş began to write his stories and novels while he was a student at the University. He studied European Law at Maastricht University and worked for international human rights cases.
Kurtuluş published several books. As an author, he has denounced in his books the human rights violations in Crimea (Education, War and Exile), and then those of women and children in the eastern and southeastern provinces of Turkey, where child marriage is common practice (Nazlıcan). His latest book, Farewell to Freedom, banned from publication in Turkey, deals with the military coup of the 1980s. A Farewell to Freedom has been translated into many languages.
